I created Lotus Adventures to keep friends, family, and curious individuals up to date while I spent nine months in Kolkata, India as a Fulbright-Nehru English Teaching Assistant (ETA).

I’m a San Jose, CA native who recently graduated from Boston College in May 2013 with a degree in political science and a minor in French.

I first traveled to India in 2011. I was there for three weeks and I soon realized that three weeks was not enough time for me. I felt the need to go back to India and truly understand the many dimensions of Indian culture.

So I applied for a Fulbright ETA, and now I am a teacher in Kolkata.

In addition to working as an English Teaching Assistant, I will also spend some time exploring the relationship between the education of girls and the plight of Indian women.

This blog will chronicle my adventures and my perspective on life in India. Stay tuned and learn along with me!
